Gala Premiere of Disney Pixar's Brave ❤

Received an invitation from Nuffnang Singapore to attend the Gala Premiere of Disney Pixar's  Brave at The Cathay, Handy Road on last Sunday.

Buntings of Brave that were displayed during the event.

The Nuffies here are super organised. Ticket collection was available only for half an hour which was on 2.15 pm till 2.45 pm. If the bloggers were unable to collect within the time stipulated, the bloggers would not be able to attend this Gala Premiere as stated.

I was lucky because I managed to get it on time and I have no idea that I was going to watch the movie in 3D! So cool! Oh ya.. Did I tell you that my sis-in-law joined me for this gala premiere as well? Hee.. Well, bro was busy during that time because he was having a tennis tournament in NUS. So I invited my sis-in-law to join me. =)

Introducing my sis-in-law.

She seldom appears in my blog. So i guess this is the first time she appears in my blog. To those who don't know, she is currently working in Singapore.

Another shot of her with her signature pose.

Our movie started at 3.45 pm, so we had about 30 to 45 minutes for us to play the Brave games. The Nuffnangers were allowed to go in according to the schedule arranged for us.

We are in the Nuffnang time slot. =)

There were number of games during the premiere. We get to play Nintendo Wii in archery skill games and etc.

Archery game.

Closer look of the Wii game.

The Brave crew was guiding the boy on how to play the Brave game.

The Brave crew in orange wig!

With the rest of the bloggers!

There were photo taking session for the Nuffnangers as well. We get to take one photo in the photo booth with orange wig or without as memories. The photo turned out to be like this:

My sis-in-law and I in orange wigs.

We were given 10 seconds to pose and I couldn't wear the orange wig on time unlike my sis-in-law. So the photo of myself turned out to be in shock with the ugly orange wig. Haha!

More photos of myself taken during the gala premiere. Hope my post doesn't bored you guys. =)

Posing with Merida and her three cute brothers.

Wasn't prepared when this photo was taken. hee.

Yours truly with the Brave crews.

Covering my nose with hand. Oops. :P

More photos during the Gala Premiere of Brave. Check this out. =)

Us in orange wigs with Merida's family. We are a part of the family too. LOL!

It was almost 3.45 pm. So we hurriedly rush to the level 6 to secure our seats cause the seats are on first come first serve basis.

Exclusive showcase for the Nuffnangers during the gala premiere.

Thumbs up for this movie! I cried at the end of the movie when Merida couldn't change her beastly curse on her mum. It's a touching movie indeed. I would rate this 4/5. Anyway, be sure to catch Disney Pixar's Brave in cinemas on this 8th August 2012!

Thanks Nuffnang Singapore and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore for this golden opportunity! ❤

Food for Beautiful Hair ❤

Expensive shampoos and condtioners can help give you shiny and lustrous hair, but your diet has a big influence on your hair’s condition, too. If possible, it’s best to get nutrients through food rather than by taking supplements, but sometimes that’s easier said than done. Changing your eating habits has so many benefits, and if you keep up with those good habits, you can really see differences in the way you look and feel.

Nuts are a great snack, and what’s in them can help beautify your hair. For instance, the zinc in Brazil nuts can help with scalp health–and a healthy scalp means healthy hair.  If you notice that you’re shedding more than usual, it could be a zinc deficiency. Walnuts, cashews and pecans also contain significant amounts of zinc. Almost all nuts contain omega-3 fatty acids, too.

Lean meats like chicken and turkey are good sources of protein and iron. If your diet lacks iron, this may cause you to have brittle hair that breaks off, making it seem thinner. An iron deficiency can also make your hair change color, and go grey prematurely. Eggs are also a good source of protein, wuth the added bonus of  biotin and B-12, which help with hair, skin and nails.
Milk and  yogurt are packed with calcium, which aids with hair growth. Just like it does with bones, calcium helps keep hair strong.

Vitamin A is good for hair and scalp, and carrots are a great way to add Vitamin A to your diet. Swiss chard and spinach are also good sources.

Add salmon to your diet if you’d like to see shiny and sleek hair. Salmon has the trifecta of  nuritens: omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and Vitamin B-12. If you notice that your hair is looking dull, flat and lifeless, try to add some salmon to your diet.

Even if you don’t follow a vegetarian diet, replacing meat with beans in one or two meals a week is a heatlthy alternative. And how can beans benefit you hair?  You’ll find protein, biotin, zinc and iron in beans–particularly lentils and kidney beans. Beans are one of the best foods for beautiful hair.
Food can really influence the appearance of your hair. You can see shiny and thick hair just by adding a few food to your diet. Any food that has high instances of protein, zinc, iron or omega-3 fatty acids witll help keep your tresses looking beautiful!

P/s: Too many delayed posts in my draft. No inspiration to blog at all. Sigh.

Are You Brave Enough?

Thanks to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore, we get to watch Disney Pixar's BRAVE! In Brave, a new tale joins the legends when the courageous Merida confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land with determination to carve her own path of life.

Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

Merida's actions reminded me of my heroine in my life. She is the bravest woman I have ever seen in my entire life. She is none other than my MUM!

L-R: My mummy and I. ❤

If she was not that brave enough at that moment, I would not be here today. Thanks to God and everyone who have been supporting her all way through. She shared her bravest moment with my sister and I at that time and we would not know that she was brave enough to give birth to my sister and I.

Before giving birth to me, my dearest mummy was diagnosed with serious sickness that doctor suggested to her to drop the intention to get pregnant anymore. Imagine a doctor told you not to give birth anymore??!! All your dreams would be vanished and there would  no meaning in your marriage life ANYMORE! Mummy was pretty lucky because she had a baby boy whom is my elder brother before she gave birth to me.

But she did not listen to the doctor's advise and moved on with her intention to give birth to me. The big sacrifices that my mum made by giving birth to me after that had been well paid off. Doctor was surprised to see that the sickness had completed gone and she would not have to face such problems in her marriage life. Thank God for all the miracles! 3 years later, my sister was born.

Thank you mummy for being so brave at that moment to give birth to me. If you weren't that brave, I guess I won't be here today. Just wanna thank you for doing all these for me and no matter how much I have done, this BIG sacrifice cannot be compared with my petty things I have done for you.

I will work very hard and make your life happily ever after. =) Enough of my story and moving on to the movie. =)

The film opens in Singapore theatres on 8th August 2012 and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in selected theatres. To know more of this movie, Brave, check out the trailer below:

Diet Myths and Tips to Lose Weight ❤

Read this somewhere and I am gonna share with readers. In fact, I find these tips are really good. Maybe you guys should follow them as well? *wide grin*

There’s more tips on how to lose weight out there than you can count! And so much conflicting information! Control your diet from eating fats. No, it’s ok to eat fat, just don’t eat carbs. Eat lots of small meals, no, wait eat 3 meals a day, and have a big breakfast. Which diet tips should you stick to, and which are myths? The best advice comes from nutritionists (but sometimes even they don’t agree on which rules to follow!)

Here are some examples of diet advice that you shouldn’t pay attention to if you want to lose weight.

natural living womens health Diet myths

Does pasta make you fat? No, not if you eat it in moderation. A huge bowl of pasta with alfredo sauce can contain 1000+ calories! A small portion of pasta with a low fat sauce is a relatively low-cal alternative, and a good choice when dieting. Just don’t overdo it!
If you eat after 8pm, will you gain weight? It’s a common diet myth that eating later means the calories you consume won’t get burned off. As long as you’re not gorging on a bowl of ice cream after dinner, you’re not going to gain weight based on the time of your meal.

Crash diets - Will they make you skinnier? They probably will, in the short-term. It’s not a diet myth that decreasing calories means you will shed pounds. But a drastic drop in calorie intake will also mean your body will become more efficient in using those calories. It’s likely that just as soon as you go back to your “normal” diet, you will put the pounds back on. if you are really looking to lose weight and keep the pounds off, be smart about your calorie reduction. Slow and steady wins the race!
Will switching to diet foods help to lose weight?

Not necessarily. If you switch to low-fat or sugar-free cookies, you probably won’t reduce your overall calorie intake. Those snacks just don’t taste as good, so that craving for sweets or rich foods won’t be satiated with just a cookie or two. It makes more sense to have the snacks that you really love, but just watch the portions! “Diet foods” are diet myths.

This is a diet myth that’s been around for years and years: “Drink lots of cold water. It  washes away foods and fat, so the calories don’t get absorbed as easily. And your body uses calories to heat the water.”  This is a diet tip that you can ignore! It’s just not true, although drinking water is good for you.  You need to stay hydrated, and it does give you a feeling of fullness that can decrease the appetite. Do drinking water is not a diet myth, but it’s not a magic answer to weight loss either.

Sometimes the best diet tips are the ones the ones that seem obvious, and the ones that take some effort. These are not diet myths: Watch your portions.  Stay active.  Eat a variety of foods like fresh vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains. Don’t deprive you body of the things you crave. You will probably ditch the diet if you restrict yourself too much. Those are diet tips that you shouldn’t ignore!

P/s: Keep this in mind. Hopefully these tips will help all of you! Let us stay healthy and fit  always! =)

Wedding Dinner ❤

Last weekend, I attended a wedding dinner with mum, dd and sis at Flemington Hotel which is located at the Taiping Lake Gardens. It only took us 5 minutes to reach there and my dd is always famous for being SUPER punctual. The dinner started at 8 pm and we reached there at 6.15 pm. So how punctual was my dad on that day. Heee..

The tables are still empty.

A wedding gift in the form of keychain.

Me, myself and I

My sis, Jamie Yeap and I.

This drink caused me drunk that night.

We had fun because it's been awhile since we stayed home for the past few weeks though there were only two youngsters i.e sister and I.

A vain photo of myself. :P

I went back home feeling a bit tipsy after the dinner and thank god my family was there with me. No more bottoms up next time!
